My name Marina de Kort-de Wolde. I am specialised in insurance law and liability law. I have worked for Nysingh Lawyers and Solicitors since November 2022 in the Liability, Insurance and Damages Department.
My experience in insurance law and liability law extends over many years, mostly spent within the renowned offices of De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek in Amsterdam. I was employed there for 21 years, 17 of those as partner. During my years with De Brauw, I handled many large, complex cases across the board of insurance law and liability law, as well as general cases throughout the practice. The leading directories Chambers Europe and Legal 500 listed me year upon year as among the top insurance lawyers within the Netherlands.
Despite all of the above, I left advocacy for quite a while, to study and practice in a whole other field before starting my own business as publisher and Chief Editor of a new national magazine.
I combined this with training as a (Dutch recognised) mediator, following upon which I acted as a business mediator by ReulingSchutte in Amsterdam, as well as independently. My focus here was also on insurance and liability.
Now I’m back in advocacy, with Nysingh, in Arnhem and Zwolle (NL) I will mostly be involved in insurance law, but liability law and general law practice are of course familiar territory to me.
I would characterise myself as practical, purposeful and creative. I get to the point quickly and my extensive experience in court means I well know how to win a case. When it proves more advantageous to settle a case, I will always aim for the most profitable settlement possible. My business mediator experience definitely comes in handy at such times. I am happy to use this experience in order to support my clients in mediation, as a lawyer. When called for, I can personally act as mediator.
The fact that my colleagues and I know our way around liability and insurance law is also reflected in our blogs. This is where we regularly share news, insights and knowledge about our area of expertise.
