What is the Oranje Fonds?

Established in 2022, the Oranje Fonds was a national wedding gift to King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima and has since evolved to become the largest fund for social engagement in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The fund aims to foster a society in which everyone can participate and no one is left alone. It supports thousands of social initiatives every year, from buddy projects and community activities to programmes tackling poverty and loneliness, and bringing villages, neighbourhoods and cities closer together.

The Oranje Fonds represents a connected society, with the motto “Being nice to each other is who we are”. It shows how small gestures and local initiatives make a difference, from students helping children with homework to volunteers setting up community centres or supporting newcomers. With financial support, knowledge, advice and national volunteering campaigns such as NLdoet and Burendag, the fund inspires people to help each other and help foster a society in which everyone feels seen and supported.

Our commitment to the Oranje Fonds

Equal opportunities are not a given. At Nysingh, we strongly believe in the right to equal opportunities for all in our society. We therefore support initiatives that promote equal opportunities and are happy to share our knowledge and expertise during workshops on knowledge days held by the Oranje Fonds.

This is our practical contribution towards helping foster an inclusive society and seeing the positive impact it can have. The Oranje Fonds also supports social initiatives that help people on a structural basis by preventing or reducing poverty or mitigating its effects.

Under its “Meer Kansen, Iedereen Gelijk” (More Opportunities, Everyone Equal) theme, the Oranje Fonds focuses on:

• Promoting equal opportunities for children and adolescents;
• Encouraging participation and supporting empowerment and self-reliance of people in vulnerable circumstances;
• Countering exclusion and promoting diversity;
• Inclusion and equality.

Why the Oranje Fonds?

Our decision to partner the Oranje Fonds was based on a shared conviction: a society in which everyone can participate starts with equal opportunities. For years, we have committed our own registered fund to participating in projects that help realise this conviction. What makes this cooperation special is the personal engagement of our colleagues. We participate in NLdoet every year, where we get involved in local initiatives, from fixing up playgrounds to helping out in a care home for a day. In this way, we experience in person what social engagement means. The Oranje Fonds gives us the opportunity to make our social commitment tangible, with lasting impact for the people who need it most.
