My name is Pleun Bijveld. I specialise in administrative and environmental and planning law, including zoning law. I advise and litigate on matters such as general administrative and procedural law (including enforcement), environmental and planning law, nature conservation law, planning blight and compensation for loss resulting from government planning decisions, and joint arrangements. I do so mainly for public authorities, such as municipalities, provincial authorities and water boards.
Before joining Nysingh, I studied at Utrecht University, where I took the course in constitutional and administrative law, specialising in sustainability. I obtained both my bachelor and my master’s degrees cum laude. I was also awarded the Pels Rijcken/SBR thesis award for my master’s thesis on the nature-inclusive energy transition. After graduating, I completed an internship at a firm of lawyers and at a consultancy firm specialising in area development. By doing so I was able to broaden my knowledge and experience of my specialism.
As a lawyer, I am enthusiastic and committed. I also like to look for creative and people-oriented solutions. The fact that in the process I act on behalf of public authorities makes it interesting given that they often have to take into account the many often conflicting interests involved.
